Rolling with the punches: what mental health is really about

Having good mental health isn’t about avoiding problems or having a so-called “perfect life”. Good mental health is all about our ability to roll with the punches, and there are something’s we can do to help us duck, dive and doge whatever life throws at us. This article takes us through what some of those things are and how we can go about achieving them. Things like building a positive support network. Having different people in our support networks means we have access to different kinds of support and alternative viewpoints, but in order to create these networks, we need to take the time to build and nurture our relationships. Another effective way that can strengthen mental health is to get involved in within the community. Volunteer work can give us a sense of purpose and satisfaction, provides the opportunity to make social connections, learn new skills, and puts our experiences into a new perspective.
