Why it is important to teach hard work

“Be anything you want to be” is a good attitude to teach our children, it encourages kids to be themselves and make a positive impact the world. However, in a time where we tend to romanticize following your heart, it is also important to prepare them for a potentially difficult and bumpy road. Teaching our children how to set sensible goals: being a 10 year old astronaut might not work out, but maybe when you are 30! How to go about achieving those goals: having a good education and being physically fit will help you learn the skills to travel in space. Most importantly, we need to teach them how to handle being discouraged. Sometimes (despite our best efforts) things don’t work out, and there is nothing wrong with that! This article looks at how encouraging kids to follow their heart, without giving them the necessary tools can be hurtful. Even grown-ups get discouraged from time-to-time, so it’s good to remind ourselves things may not always go as planned, and that is normal.

are common topics in my discussion with clients. If this is something that interests you, and would like to arrange a free 30-minute consultation, I would be glad to discuss how we can build your resilience to being discouraged so you can reach your goals!
